Public Projects

coordinated by Elizabeth Lyons

These photographs show public arts projects that grew out of Elizabeth Lyons' work with middle-school and high-school students.

“Mosaic has been the ideal medium for large-scale works with students for a number of reasons, materials are easy to come by, the cooperative nature of creating a mural has numerous positive educational outcomes, and students create something that is lasting and a source of pride for themselves and their communities. It gives young people a chance to be part of something bigger.”

Elizabeth Lyons has been working with children for the past two decades in public schools and in her studio. For more information about commissioning a project for your community, please contact the artist.
